Terms of Service

Effective 2026-09-19 · Version ca-2026-09-v1 · Questions: info@buildsafe.world

BuildSafe connects people. Your construction contract and project payments stay between you and your professional.

1. Who we are and who may use BuildSafe

BuildSafe operates a Canadian home-improvement lead-generation and communications marketplace. Contact us at info@buildsafe.world. You must be at least the age of majority in your province or territory, able to enter binding contracts, and authorized to act for any business or property you represent. Provide accurate account information, protect your sign-in credentials, and report unauthorized access promptly.

2. Marketplace, not a construction company

Contractors are independent businesses, not BuildSafe employees or agents. BuildSafe does not perform, supervise, inspect, insure or guarantee work; provide escrow; collect deposits or project payments; or charge a commission on jobs. Homeowners and contractors negotiate and pay each other directly. In-app matching and quote acceptance facilitate introductions and may be evidence of your direct agreement, but do not replace a written construction contract.

3. Quotes and hiring

Before work starts, the parties should agree in writing on scope, materials, taxes, total price, deposits, payment milestones, permits, access, start/completion dates, change orders, warranties, cancellation rights and dispute handling. Confirm whether a price is an estimate or a fixed quote. BuildSafe does not guarantee contractor availability, any number of leads, lead exclusivity, a successful hire or earnings. Do not make payments you cannot independently verify.

4. Verification and professional duties

A TrustGuard or verified badge indicates that a platform verification step was recorded; it is not a guarantee of safety, character, qualifications, current licensing, insurance or workmanship. Stripe Identity checks identity, not trade competence. Legacy verification records may have a different source. Homeowners should independently check licences, insurance, references and permit requirements. Contractors must hold required licences and insurance, comply with building codes, occupational health and safety and workers’ compensation requirements, and meet their tax obligations.

5. Property access and safety

Creating an account, posting a job or accepting these Terms does not authorize entry to a property. Schedule and confirm access with the chosen contractor separately; a quote acceptance alone is not permission for an unscheduled visit. Only an owner or authorized representative may grant access. Disclose known hazards and secure children, pets and valuables. BuildSafe is not an emergency dispatch service. For immediate danger, leave the hazard area and contact 911 or the appropriate utility emergency service.

6. Platform subscriptions

Homeowners are not charged a BuildSafe project commission. Contractor platform access may require a subscription after introductory access ends. The app currently describes a 30-day introductory access period; eligibility and any billing trial, currency, price, taxes, renewal interval and first billing date must be reviewed at checkout. Subscription fees buy platform access, not work or guaranteed leads. A subscription renews as disclosed until cancelled. Use Account → Manage Subscription to stop renewal. Account deletion is not a substitute for cancelling a Stripe subscription. Cancellation normally stops future renewal; refunds, cooling-off rights and unused periods are governed by the checkout terms and mandatory law. Contact support for billing errors or a refund request.

7. Acceptable use and user content

Do not commit fraud, impersonate others, post fake reviews, harass or discriminate, send unsolicited marketing, publish another person’s private data, upload illegal or infringing content, distribute malware, scrape contact details or bypass access controls. Reviews must reflect genuine experience. You retain ownership of content you submit and grant BuildSafe a non-exclusive licence to host, display, process and share it only as needed to operate the service, address safety issues and comply with law. Upload only content you are entitled to share and remove unnecessary personal information.

8. Messages, contact and notifications

Use project contact details only for that project. In-app messaging does not give permission for unrelated calls, marketing or property entry. A contractor receives calling access when the homeowner expressly permits calls or accepts the quote, as described in the project flow. Optional alerts and email preferences can be changed in Account → Notifications & Email. Push is best-effort and may be delayed or unavailable; open the app for authoritative information. BuildSafe may send essential account, security, billing and requested support communications. Marketing requires separate valid consent and is not a condition of using the marketplace.

9. AI tools and availability

AI trade suggestions, summaries, price estimates and draft quotes may be incomplete or wrong. They are planning aids, not professional engineering, architectural, legal, safety or binding pricing advice. Review all output before submitting it and obtain a qualified professional’s assessment before work. The service may be interrupted or changed for maintenance, security or operational reasons. Nothing here removes mandatory service-quality obligations under law.

10. Reports, suspension and disputes

Report a contractor from their profile or contact in-app support for misuse, unsafe conduct or privacy concerns. We may investigate, limit visibility or suspend accounts for suspected fraud, safety risks or policy violations. Where appropriate and legally permitted, we will explain an action and accept a request for review at info@buildsafe.world. BuildSafe is not a court, insurer or guarantor; disputes about work, refunds or property damage should be raised with the contractor, insurer, consumer authority or a court as appropriate. Our support process does not replace your legal remedies.

11. Responsibility and non-waivable rights

Each party is responsible for its own acts, omissions and legal duties. To the extent permitted by law, BuildSafe is not responsible for losses caused solely by independent users, their work or off-platform payments. No clause excludes responsibility for BuildSafe’s own duties where exclusion is unlawful, or limits statutory warranties, privacy rights, consumer remedies, fraud or intentional misconduct. There is no mandatory arbitration clause or waiver of class proceedings in these Terms. Applicable federal Canadian law and the mandatory laws of your province or territory apply; you retain any right to bring a claim locally.

12. Changes, closure and contact

Material changes will be brought to your attention in the app or through an appropriate service communication. A new acceptance will be requested where required for a materially different use of personal information or contract change. Existing records retain their accepted version and date; changes are not retroactive waivers. You may stop using the service, request privacy assistance or close your account in settings. Necessary records may remain as described in the Privacy Policy. Questions: info@buildsafe.world. French-language and other province-specific terms may be required before service is offered in Quebec.
